Maddie's 1st day of Kindergarten

Maddie had her first day of Kindergarten! It was a typical Maddie day and I'm just going to leave it at that to save her any embarrassment. Let's just say that the tears I shed were not ones of joy or sorrow, but more of frustration and embarrassment. We didn't get the afternoon time like I had requested. So, that makes it all the more upsetting. Maddie is a morning person just like me!! (where do you think I got the nickname BEAR from?!?) Oh well, I warned her teacher about this and so now we'll just put this new teacher to the test.
Maddie is really proud of her new "big girl" princess backpack. Her favorite feature is the lunch box that came with it, which she can't use at school. I fill it up with her lunch and after school snack and that seems to satisfy her. She said that her favorite part of the day was play time...of course!

Nathan Bruce

Nathan Bruce Childs was born on August 12, 2008 at 10:04 pm. He came in kicking and screaming (much like his mother was doing at the time of his birth) weighing 7lbs 6oz and 19 inches long. I had him al nat-ur-al and I am never doing that again!! It's a long story (but a goodie!) but let's just say that the epideral did not work. I actually wanted to go natural but wussed out in the end...a little too late apparently. My feet were numb and that was about it. No body told me about the "ring of fire" or really what to expect when you have a natural childbirth, so needless to say I did not have a very peaceful or quiet reaction when it happened. I think I scared my mom and Jason because I know that I certainly scared myself. I could not convince myself that those screams were coming out of me because I have NEVER screamed like that before. I now understand where the phrase "hurts like a mother" came from! Ok, on to better details. The recovery was AWESOME!! If it didn't hurt so dang much I might do it again just for the recovery. Nathan is doing well. We came home late thursday night. His bilirubin (jaundice) is a little high and so we are watching that. Other than that he is a perfect little angel. The girls love him and just can't leave him alone. They are really good with him and just adore him. They have to comment on every little thing he does and doesn't do. Em keeps asking me where the "mommy milk" comes from. Maddie tries to tell her that it comes from "Mom's Booties." She doesn't know what to think of that yet. Jason is of course in 7th heaven, although he hasn't really had that much time to spend with his little son. He's been busy taking care of the girls for me. I really have the best husband. He does whatever I ask him to do with out question or argument. Occasionally he'll tell me that his arm hurts, but I just remind him of what I went through only a few days ago and he gets right up! I've put together a few pics. My camera didn't get used a lot to take pictures. My mom has some better ones that I will try to get. You can also go to http://www.hospitalportraits.com/ and see the picture they took of him there. Click on his name Nathan C. Enjoy! Oh, and Linda Utley won the contest guessing 7lbs 3 oz and 20 1/2 inches long. Aunt Eva, you had the same guess but lost it with the 31 inches long! Valerie, sorry I really did try to push for the 13th, but there was no way I was holding him in for 2 more hours!! My mom won on the date guessing exactly that day. She said that she chose that particular day because it was a Tuesday. Maddie was born on a Sunday, Emma on Monday, so naturally Nathan had to be on Tuesday. Only 4 more kids and we'll have one for each day of the week!

Hurry!!!

If you want to put in your vote for weight and height on Baby Nathan then you better do it now! I have an appointment tomorrow (tuesday) and I am not leaving until they strip my membranes, break my water and send me on my way to the hospital!! So get those votes in. Check the comments to see what others have said. If we have multiple guesses on the winner then I will be putting those names into a drawing. Good luck!

38 Weeks...

The countdown continues. We are doing a poll now. Weight and Height. Winner will receive a really cute prize. Just to be fair I will tell you what the girls weighed. Maddie was 5lbs 9oz and Emma was 5 lbs 13 oz. Both were right on time. So, cast your votes. I'm thinking that your time is limited.... At my last appointment I was dilatated to a 2 1/2 and 80% efaced. Also at zero station. I've dropped and we are ready to go any minute now. So keep your fingers crossed and those prayers coming that we will go soon! Good luck with your guesses!

Why did the chicken cross the road?

So we were driving down the street the other day and there was a chicken in the road. The girls frieked out and didn't want me to run over it. Of course I stopped and we watched it go by. Both the girls asked me, "Mom, why did the chicken cross the road?" I had to laugh at that. I asked them why THEY thought it did. Maddie came up with this elaborate story about how it had escaped it's cage and now it was going to the other side where his family was to get away from the humans. I left it at that.

New Blog!!

I just created a new blog for those who enjoy reading such as myself. You can go to the list on the right and click on Mommy Bookworms or you can go to mommybookworms.blogspot.com Enjoy!

Boo's Boo-Boo

Well, we had our first experience with stitches the other day. The girls were playing around and Emma (whom we call Boo sometimes..."Emma Boo" or "Boo" from Monsters Inc) fell on our hardwood floor splitting open her chin. She had to get 5 stitches. She was very good at the doctors considering what they had to do. Maddie was very sad about her little sister but was brave so she wouldn't scare Emma. Emma's lips are blue from the sucker she had at the doctors office. After the incident we went and got some frozen yogurt from a new place out here and then headed off to daddy's softball game. She gets them removed in a week.
